As any one who has tried to lose weight will know life throws you curve balls. Just when you seem to have everything under control and running smoothly enters a bump
My bump happened September 2nd. Well it's a bump and a blessing if you can imagine. I went for the first of 3 oral surgeries. I am having dental implants put in.
How is getting new teeth a bump you may ask. Well on the second Dr.Viridi pulled my six remaining teeth and put in my new dentures made by Boyd at MBK Denture clinic. The pain is crazy. I am on my second set of pain killers. The major bump is that I cannot chew anything. Starting on Tuesday I can use a straw but but still no chewing. It is very difficult to maintain a paleo diet and not chew. It is difficult to feel full not being able to chew. I have been told that by the middle of October I should be able to do mashed potatoes but still no chewing.
The plan is for me to do as little chewing as possible for four months. The reason for this is that my gums can heal properly. Gums healing properly means that my implants will be more stable and last longer.
My second surgery will be between January and March. At that point I will go back to the no chewing so that the implants can heal properly. I am hoping for March so that I can chew some good meals between January and then. It will be another four months before my last surgery when the post will be put in.
The third surgery will be the shortest recovery time. I believe it is only no chewing for two months. However once those two months are up I will be able to bite into a big juicy apple and not worry about my teeth getting stuck in the apple.
In the almost two weeks since surgery I have lost 5 pounds which is great, but It is a daily struggle to make sure I am getting all the right foods and vitamins into in liquid form.
This is a bump but in the end I will have a beautiful smile and be able to eat chew any food I desire. Well as long as it's paleo. I can almost taste the steak now.
God bless until next time.
