We are now goat free. I have mixed emotions about this. I love goats, I loved our goats, the milk, the kids all of it. I don't miss them always finding some way out. Which in turn meant they were on the road or eating my apple trees. We had put lots onto our herd and it was a difficult choice to make to sell them. I miss them, however as long as we reside on this farm we wont have them again. We are just too close to the road.
Our chicken population has risen. We are up to 35 hens and 21 roosters. The hens are going through a horrible molt right now and are really slacking on the egg department I am very lucky to have understanding egg customers. The roosters well they should be thankful for every day. Soon all but three will be moving on to the deep freeze. I plan on starting the incubator up in January to have point of lay pullets ready for the spring.
MyLo, Candy, Titan and Jackson are the three remaining horses and Donkey. Kiera and I are taking lessons weekly, working on building all sorts of new skills. Jayden and MyLo are starting to learn each other and things are going well.
The new addition to the farm is pigs. Yep you read that right. We now have two pigs that we are feeding up to put into the deep freeze. We are tackling this adventure with some good friends. So far Ian says we are never doing this again.
I have been sewing up a storm getting ready for the first annual Asquith Town Market Christmas Sale on December 10, 2016 at the Elks Hall in Asquith. Along with trying to get some custom orders and Christmas presents done.
Happy Fall everyone and keep Warm
